Same-day crowns let you receive a custom ceramic restoration in a single appointment. Using a digital intraoral scanner and an in-office zirconia milling system, most crowns, inlays, and onlays can be designed, milled, hand-finished, and bonded the same day, no putty impressions, no temporary crown, and no return visit.

How the same-day process works

Your visit starts like a traditional crown appointment: the tooth is numbed if needed, decay or old restorative material is removed, and the tooth is shaped to receive the crown. Then, instead of a physical impression, a quick digital scan captures the exact shape of the tooth and your bite. Most patients find the scan far more comfortable than impression trays.

The restoration is designed on a computer and milled on-site from a solid block of high-strength zirconia while you wait. After milling, it is refined, stained or polished for a natural shade match, then tried in. The dentist checks the fit and bite, makes any minor adjustments, and bonds the crown permanently in place.

Why patients prefer single-visit crowns

One appointment means less time away from work or family. It also eliminates the temporary crown, a common source of sensitivity, loosening, and inconvenience with traditional lab-based crowns.
